Overview:

Hartline was a big disappointment for Wildcat fans but he really turned it around his senior year. He matured as a QB and improved his play considerably. However, hold off on calling him a sleeper. He still has a lot of work to do to improve his game and any shot he had of getting drafted pretty much went away when he got arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct before Kentucky’s bowl game. Very stupid move on his part.

Scouting Report:

Positives

- Great height
- Good athlete
- Can move outside of the pocket
- Throws well on the run
- Gets the ball out of his hands quickly
- Has experience taking snaps from under center
- Great senior year
- Showed he can improve and succeed
- Played against top competition

Negatives

- Too thin
- Poor accuracy
- Too often throws the ball to the receivers wrong shoulder and fails to lead them
- Arm strength is only average and he floats some passes
- Doesn’t go through his progressions well
- Often stares down his receivers
- Holds onto the ball too long
- Not good when pressured
- Bad footwork in his 3, 5 and 7 step drop backs from under center
- Doesn’t move his feet in the pocket
- Not much of a threat to complete any deep passes
- One year wonder?
- System may be designed to be QB friendly
- Arrested before his bowl game
